Update: If Even Just One Honest Person Gets Wrongly Banned, Then Are Any Of Us Really Safe?

March 23rd, 2008

Regarding DigitalPoint.com forums (part 2)

Most people who get banned from DP have multiple accounts, or some other valid reason to be banned. My case was very unfair, since I did nothing dishonest and all my supposed ‘infractions’ happened within a singe ten minute period. It bothers me, a bit, to know people will see I’m banned and assume I actually did something seriously wrong.

The Bright Side

Being away from my (formerly) favorite forum has been a positive experience, and I will look back at this time as one of my all-time best periods of productivity.

Question:

When something unexpected and seemingly negative happens in your life, you always have these options to remember:

  • Go The Extra Mile
  • Don’t Make Assumptions
  • Be Grateful,
  •     and (attempt to)

  • Enjoy Every Moment!!!

If Even Just One Honest Person Gets Wrongly Banned, Then Are Any Of Us Really Safe?

March 5th, 2008

Regarding DigitalPoint.com forums:

If even just one honest person gets wrongly banned, then are any of us really safe?

• In the last month, I did use the proper procedures to report bad posts, at least twice.
• I admit making one single mistake, and then repeating the one single mistake ~7 times (within 5 or 10 minutes)
• For this I have been banned for 6 whole months.

Questions:

If enough other members care about the quality of DP, then why was the graphics and multi-media sub-forum over-run with ~50% spam (on the first page of new posts)?

If DP has enough good quality mods, then why was the graphics and multi-media sub-forum over-run with ~50% spam?

Since I admitted making one single mistake, and repeating the one single mistake ~7 times, is there any chance the mod who banned me for 6 whole months also made a mistake?

I’m not looking to ‘bend the rules’, it seems as though I received ~7 infractions for one single 5 minute period of attempting to help make DP better. Isn’t there any limit on infractions per hour for a related offense?

Shouldn’t there be?

““““
Considering what I actually did and why:

I have put a lot of time and effort into my experience at DP, and should not have to wait six months to return. Please, either reconsider my current status, or make me wonder why I ever spent so much time here.

Thank you.

Are You Young At Heart? Do You Still Dare To Dream Big??

March 3rd, 2008

* Are You Young At Heart? (No matter what your age)

* Do You Still Dare To Dream Big?? Use your imagination, then add some enthusiasm and soon something wonderful this way comes!

Right? Can you agree??

““““““““

Do young people have to abandon their youthful dreams before crossing the threshold to adult responsibility???

"Yes"

I ask why?

"No"

Are you sure??

“““““““““““`

Here is an exact quote "…the lightless corridor where youth invariably abandons its youthful dreams before crossing the threshold to adult responsibility. Unique in its seamless blending of terror and poignancy-of regret and transcendence…"

The above quote is from the inner cover of a very famous book. Credit for the exact words (since it does not appear the famous author wrote the text on the inner cover) goes to ‘Avon Books, NY, NY 10019′

Can you be the first to name the famous author and book title?

“““““““““““`

Also, what do you think of the primary question: Do young people have to abandon their youthful dreams before crossing the threshold to adult responsibility? Why??

Good News For Open Source and End-Users: Drupal 6 gets OpenID support!

July 16th, 2007

Good news for Open Source users!

"After much hard work led by James Walker, OpenID 2.0 support is now in Drupal 6 core! OpenID is a decentralized, secure single sign-on system. It allows you to create a login at a site you frequent, and use that same login on any other site that supports OpenID. Drupal 5.x and below have supported this with the built-in Drupal module, but OpenID is an open standard, better supported, and more secure. "Let this be the day where we help…"  -Source

The 2007 Chicago Cubs Miracle!

July 4th, 2007

Up from the brink of disaster: The Cubs used to be 9 games under .500, and… …heading into yet another long, hot, summer as a losing team.

    • On 06/29/07 The 2007 Chicago Cubs Miracle became a part of local sports history.
    • On that wild day the Cubs won their seventh game in a row and it was one of the most dramatic victories ever seen in beautiful Wrigley Field.
    • Falling behind 5 - 0 in the first inning would leave most baseball teams unable to come back.
    • Well, 5 - 2 was an improvement
    • 5 - 3 is better…
    • Then 5 - 4 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning; It looks like another close game where the local favorites come up just one run short.
    • This is one of 18 (or more) Reasons Why You Should Never Give Up.
    • More to come soon.
